Celebrated film director Frank Rajae Arase is back with a movie, ‘Virgins Of The Throne’, shot across four West African countries and exploring themes of power, sacrifice, secrets, and the tense intersection of tradition with modern society.
The Ghanaian-based movie director and producer has made great movies from the Gold Coast, featuring major stars from the nation.
Virgins of the Throne is a Pan-African epic exploring destiny, power and secrets across Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone. The plot centres on an ancient, strict tradition in which only a maiden deemed pure can claim the throne, highlighting the conflict between inherited rules and modern realities.
The movie, which is now screening at Silverbird Cinemas and other cinemas, premiered on April 3 and is an unfolding drama surrounding a sacred throne that requires a “virgin” to rule.
As the coronation approaches, the ancient law heightens tension, forcing characters to navigate a world of ambition and buried truths.
Directed by Frank Rajah Arase, it stars Nollywood actor Adedimeji Lateef,
Ghanaian actors Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah, Adjetey Anang, Syndy Emade, and Nollywood actors Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, Segun Arinze, Tony Umez, and Margaret Echeghe, among others.
Frank Rajah Efosa Arase is a Nigerian film director. Arase is a native of Edo State, Nigeria. He was nominated for Best Director at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
