The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) for both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation due to violations of Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs), which pertains to the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of crucial aviation documents.

The NCAA said the specific certificates revoked were OBA/AOC/12-15/002 for Omni-Blu Aviation and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 for Eastwind Aviation.

The decision was aimed at further sanitising the aviation industry following the incident involving a Max Air aircraft recently.

The NCAA said the decision followed findings that both companies engaged in fraudulent practices related to their applications, licences, and operational records.

According to Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs, such violations can lead to severe sanctions, including the revocation of air operator certificates, which the NCAA has now enforced.

The revocation comes amid ongoing scrutiny and regulatory actions by the NCAA aimed at ensuring compliance and safety within Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The Authority’s actions reflected its commitment to maintaining high standards and accountability among aviation operators in the country.

Part of the statement signed by the NCAA director of public affairs and consumer protection, Michael Achimugu, stated that: “The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records.

“Part 1.2 1.5(b) of Nig. CARs provide the sanction for such fraud as revocation of the certificate.

“Consequently, the respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked.”
