This year’s World Milk Day themed ‘Sustainable Dairy,’ emphasised industry’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while providing nutritious food and sustainable livelihoods.

Friesland believes the company’s Dairy Development model has proven to be effective in developing local and sustainable dairy chain by collaborating with partners and pastoralists, such as; IFDC-2SCALE, Bles Dairies, and Wageningen University

The company also said it would focus on enhancing milk production, quality, hygiene, feeding, breeding, and farm management while noting that its building a sustainable dairy value chain requires strong cooperation among key stakeholders, including the public sector, private sector, knowledge centres, and non-governmental organisations.

This is coming on the heels of World Milk Day 2023 as the foremost brand gears up to celebrate World Milk Day on June 1, in a unique way while highlighting the importance of sustainable dairy practices and their positive impact on consumers and the environment.

Commenting on the initiative, Marketing manager, Three Crowns Milk,  Chioma Otisi Igwe, said: “we recognise the significance of sustainable dairy practices and their benefits for consumers and the environment, and World Milk Day provides us with a platform to showcase the positive impact of sustainable dairy and raise awareness among consumers about the importance of making conscious choices.”
