A car-hailing operator has accused officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of assault and harassment during an altercation in Abuja’s Central Area on Friday.

In a post on Facebook on Friday by the car hailing operator identified as Prince Adebissy Wealthpluz Crown, he posted a video which captures a tense exchange between him and the uniformed officers, with both parties trading threats and accusations.

In the clip, an FRSC officer is seen rushing toward the driver who was recording the incident, warning him against filming. “Oga no video me ooo,” the officer said in pidgin English, while another attempted to restrain him. The same officer added, “I go seize that your phone.”

Defiant, the victim behind the camera responded, “I go video una, I swear to God, una go go viral, so tay una dey stop person for central area here.”

Amid the confrontation, another officer appeared to take a more conciliatory tone, saying, “Enjoy yourself, anything you are doing just don’t put me in that video.”

The situation escalated further as the car hailing operator continued filming, pointing at one of the officers and alleging physical assault. “Na you dey hit me for leg right? Don’t worry, you will see what’s going to happen,” he said.

The man also recorded an FRSC vehicle with the number plate “C-432RS,” vowing to expose the officers involved in the alleged assault and vandalisation of his car. “This is the plate number, wallahi, I’m going to make sure you guys trend. I swear to God, you people did it to the wrong person. These are the people that stopped me. They allowed a Golf guy to hit my car, and they took the Golf to their office,” he alleged.

The video also captured another exchange in which an officer expressed concern about being filmed. “You are putting me in that video,” the officer said.

The officer continued, “No, no, I am not bothered.”

The man replied, “You are not bothered? Okay, you will be bothered, you are going to see the outcome.”

Crown accompanied the videos on his Facebook with post, saying: “A Lawless country called Nigeria ….
The FRSC UNIT at Federal secretariat area Abuja this morming were bunch of touts in Uniform of FRSC ….
Am not surprised by their actions though, but this is a reminder that this country is doomed …. See the faces of the officers that manhandled me and destroyed my car mirror in the attached videos.”

The exact circumstances leading to the confrontation remained unclear, and it was yet to be independently verified whether the officers damaged the operator’s vehicle as alleged or not.

As of the time of filing this report, the FRSC was yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
