The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe State has intensified warnings against underage driving ahead of the Sallah celebrations.

Sector Commander, Mr. Samson Kaura, issued the warning on Wednesday, noting that driving by persons under 18 remains a major cause of road crashes, alongside speeding, overloading, dangerous driving, and use of phones or drugs.

Kaura revealed that minors have been observed driving cars, motorcycles, and tricycles, which is prohibited, and stressed that the corps would enforce compliance strictly.

He said special patrols have commenced to ensure safety during the festive period, with personnel stationed on major routes across the state. “We must remember only the living can celebrate; let us drive safely and prioritise safety over speed or profit,” he urged.

The commander advised parents not to allow their children to drive, warning that it endangers lives. To support motorists, no fewer than 620 personnel, including regular and special marshals, have been deployed, along with 10 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a tow truck.
