FUASK: Admission, Employment Will Be Strictly On Merit – VC

The vice chancellor (VC) of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK) Kaduna State, Professor William Barnabas Qurix has said that admission and employment into the university would strictly be on merit.

He expressed his commitment to making the university an excellent citadel of learning that will groom graduates grounded in various fields of Applied Sciences.

Professor Qurix, who resumed work at the University Campus alongside other principal officers after their inauguration by the Minister of Education, said the institution would be built on merit and excellence.

He said student wishing to study in the school must earn their score on merit.

“Our mission is to train men and women, equip them with knowledge and skills that can bring transformational development and progress. Indeed, progress and development have come to the people. This requires focus, hard work, partnerships, transnational education and linkages. So, we will knock on the doors of world universities to seek partnerships,” he said.

According to the vice chancellor, the university has the potential for high impact on the people of Nigeria.

Professor Qurix thanked President Bola Tinubu for finding him worthy to be the pioneer vice chancellor of the university, pledging his total commitment to the progress and development of the university.

He acknowledged the support by some individuals, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kaduna State governor, Mallam Uba Sani; the minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung whose genius and far-sightedness produced the unique bill that berthed the university.

Others acknowledged include Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, the pro chancellor, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, Gen. M.L Agwai, Justice K. B Akaas, Dr Durungwa, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, Engr Andy Yakubu and Rev J. Hayab.

The vice chancellor thanked the paramount ruler of Kachia, the council chairman, and the entire community for the warm reception received and their pledge to support the growth of the university

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, who was at the university, expressed commitment to assisting the university while thanking President Tinubu for approving the university for the people of Southern.

The council chairman of Kachia local government, Dr Manzo Maigari and the lawmaker representing Kachia constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Agite commended the president for the establishment of the university and a Federal Medical Centre.
