Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has felicitated with all mothers in the state on the occasion of 2026 Mothering Sunday.
Fubara, in a goodwill message to commemorate the day, paid glowing tributes to the womenfolk, acknowledging the strength, resilience and unwavering commitment of mothers to nurturing children, the future leaders of the nation.
“On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, I warmly greet all mothers on the occasion of Mothering Sunday.
“We celebrate the selfless love, care, and sacrifices of mothers across our great state. Your tireless efforts in shaping families and communities are truly the backbone of our society,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, Rivers State representative in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Tony Okocha, has joined in celebrating women in the state on the occasion of the 2026 Mothering Sunday, describing mothers as pillars of society.
Okocha, in a message released yesterday in Port Harcourt, praised mothers for their immeasurable sacrifices and dedication to family and society.
He described mothers as the bedrock of every stable home and a vital force in shaping responsible children and future leaders.
“The role of women in sustaining families, promoting peace, and contributing to community development remains invaluable to the progress of Rivers State and Nigeria,” Okocha said.
The NDDC representative urged families and communities to continually honour, support, and celebrate mothers for their enduring love, sacrifices, and commitment to humanity.
