A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ogbonna Nwuke, has said Governor Siminalayi Fubara has taken firm control of governance in Rivers State.

Nwuke, who stated this yesterday in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, the state capital, said Fubara had done well in the last one year of his administration despite distractions.
He further stated that the governor overcame a game plan to destabilise him and the state and make the state ungovernable.

The former federal lawmaker said: “I think that Fubara has done well given the distractions and diversions we saw at the beginning of this administration. He had taken control of the government.

“That is critical as we begin this conversation because the game initially was to destabilise him entirely and make the state ungovernable.

“But, if you are living around and living in Rivers State, one of the first things you will tell yourself is that a man with a peaceful disposition has equally been able to maintain some relative peace in the state.

“We don’t have the kind of disturbances we had in the past when persons claiming to be angry youths, claiming to be cultists, claiming to be militants held all of us hostage. That has not happened under Sim Fubara’s watch.

“He has provided a platform, achieved a molecule of peace, and launched out. What he has done effectively has been in the last four months. I believe he has also introduced what you can call some form of balanced development among the three senatorial districts.

“If you look at the projects that have been flagged off and projects that have been commissioned, you will see some near parity in the way the projects have been sited.”
