A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has described the defection of Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a major political development that will benefit both President Bola Tinubu and the people of Rivers State.

Ezechi, who represents Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta State, said Governor Fubara’s alignment with the ruling party represented “a pragmatic and progressive step” towards strengthening collaboration between Rivers State and the Federal Government for accelerated development.

In a press statement released on Sunday, Ezechi said, “The greatest beneficiaries of Governor Fubara’s APC membership are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the good people of Rivers State.” “This move opens wider doors for cooperation, federal presence, and accelerated development in critical sectors,” he added.

The lawmaker commended President Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to national unity, noting that such qualities have continued to attract leaders from various political backgrounds who are focused on delivering results for their people rather than promoting partisanship.

“Governor Fubara’s decision underscores a pragmatic approach to governance anchored in collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to Rivers people,” he added.

Ezechi argued that Rivers State, as one of Nigeria’s key economic hubs, stands to gain increased federal attention, infrastructural investments, and policy support through stronger ties with the central government.

He urged political stakeholders to view the development not through partisan lenses but as an opportunity to promote unity, stability, and people-oriented governance.

“Politics should always serve as a vehicle for progress, not division,” Ezechi stressed. “This is a time for collaboration and support for initiatives that promote peace and development.”

The Delta federal lawmaker reaffirmed that the APC remained committed to inclusive governance and national growth under President Tinubu’s leadership, while urging Rivers residents to support efforts that would sustain peace and foster progress in the state.
