The commissioner for industry in Anambra State, Mr Udechukwu Christian, has assured that Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM) has the capacity to contribute to the national solution that is required to tackle the fuel crises in the country due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

Udechukwu, who is also an investment and business consultant, gave the assurance after inspecting a wide range of vehicles including small and big mass transportation buses that run on gas, CNG, LNG, electric, all manufactured at the company’s factory at Nnewi.

The commissioner who said he was sent by Anambra State Governor Prof Charles Soludo  to see how the state is getting ready for solutions to the challenges that are presently facing Nigeria, said the state government was very much aware that Innoson has renewable energy technologies such as CNG, LNG and solar powered technologies that are able to support mass transport system in Nigeria.

According to the commissioner, one of the ways which government can alleviate the fuel situation is by introducing mass transportation system run on alternative energy as well as the ones that run on fuel.

He said, “But the more you have the ones that run on gas,  solar powered and Liquified Natural Gas, the greater you have the pressure for stability in the regular fuel price.’’

Stating that Governor Soludo has already extended a hand of cooperation, support and partnership with the government at the centre, the commissioner condemned a situation whereby some states are cutting down work days from five working days to three working days.

Also speaking at the Nnewi factory, chairman of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma said  he doesn’t think Nigeria has any serious challenge as it concerns the cost of fuel because he has already found a solution.

According to Chukwuma, the high cost of petrol will definitely force people to  reduce their expenses by using buses to go to work. He therefore, advised, that the best option is to switch to vehicles that run on alternative energy which is produced massive at his company at Nnewi.
