A clash between Fulani and Hausa youths has claimed three lives in Alwasa Village, Argungu local government area of Kebbi State.

The incident occurred during the recent Sallah celebrations.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the crisis began following a misunderstanding involving Fulani youths who arrived in the village and engaged in motorcycle stunts, drawing disapproval from the local youths.

While attempting to stop the activity, one Hausa youth was allegedly stabbed to death by a Fulani youth.

The situation escalated when angry Hausa youths mobilised and launched a reprisal attack on the Fulani group, resulting in the death of two Fulani individuals.

Governor Nasir Idris, who visited the scene on Tuesday evening, condemned the violence and warned that his administration would not tolerate lawlessness.

He stressed that anyone found culpable, regardless of tribe or status, would be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted.

The governor also urged community leaders, traditional rulers, and both Hausa and Fulani youths to promote peace, dialogue, and restraint.

He appealed to affected families to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that the government would ensure justice is served.

In a related development, the Kebbi State Police Command has commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to arrest those responsible.
