FUT Minna Matriculates 4,944 Students, Demands Decent Dressing

Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna has matriculated 4,944 students with a call on them to be security conscious.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, who spoke during the 35th matriculation ceremony of the institution held at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano disclosed that a total number of 16,556 candidates applied for admission to the university through direct entry/post-UTME,.

He said out of the candidates who applied 6,877 sat for post UTME, of which 6,053 candidates were offered admission but 5,165 accepted the offer and 4,944 were duly registered.

While admonishing the students to dress decently in line with the university dress code and display their ID cards always to avoid embarrassment by the security personnel, the vice chancellor urged them to be security conscious.

 “The security awareness and alertness is a joint responsibility of all. I therefore call on you to be conscious of your environment and report any suspicious movement and objects to relevant authorities,” Prof. Kuta cautioned.

The vice chancellor represented by the DVC (Administration), Prof. Uno Essang Uno, urged the matriculants to adequately make use of the facilities at their disposal such especially the University Health Services on both campuses instead of going on self-medication or consulting quack doctors.

He advised the students to keep away from any acts contrary to the rules and regulations of the university and avoid associating with people of questionable character and integrity.

The registrar of the university, Mr. Amos Nmadu Kolo, later administered the matriculation oath to the students.
