The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has released the 2024/2025 federal government scorecard, ranking the websites of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), with a total of 235 MDAs evaluated in the exercise.
Galaxy Backbone, the Nigerian Content Development Management Board, and the Nigeria Export Promotion Council emerged as the agencies with the best websites, according to a report unveiled yesterday.
The secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, who spoke at the event, reiterated the federal government’s commitment to openness, transparency and citizens’ engagement with the official release of the 2024/2025 ranking of websites of MDAs.
At the event organised by BPSR, Akume said the initiative underscored the critical role of technology and digital platforms in disseminating information, delivering public services and ensuring citizens’ access to government data and resources.
Also, the director-general of BPSR, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, said the scorecard, introduced six years ago, is gaining wide acceptance and institutionalisation across MDAs, reflecting the growing commitment to transparency, accountability and improved service delivery.
Akume who was represented by the permanent secretary, General Services Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, explained that the scorecard template developed by BPSR is designed to assess the proficiency of MDA websites against global standards, to improve ease of doing business, enhance service delivery and make government institutions more accessible to the public.
The scorecard is also a key performance index under the National e-Government Masterplan for measuring Nigeria’s e-Government status. He noted that fully standardised MDA websites would reduce physical contact, curb corruption in public financial transactions, improve access to online services and help address cyber-related challenges such as identity theft and online scams.
The DG of BPSR noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which aims to strengthen governance through reforms and technology-driven public service.
He commended top-performing MDAs and urged others to be more proactive in information disclosure, while calling for stronger collaboration among relevant agencies to advance digital governance for the benefit of citizens.
