Gambari Commissions ICT Lab For Bauchi School

Chief of Staff to the president, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has commissioned a modern 30-computer systems ICT laboratory to promote e-learning and skills for students of Perfect Memorial School, Mwari, Bauchi State.

At the occasion, Gambari said the centre will offer an opportunity for students of Bauchi State to remain connected to the global world.

Represented by the Immediate Past executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND), Prof Suleiman Bogoro said the centre will also offer the students the requisite skills and knowledge to compete favourably with their peers across the globe.

He further reiterated the commitment of the government to prioritizing human capacity development through investment in quality education across the country.

The ICT lab, remodeled by YouthHubAfrica, was funded as part of Huawei Technology Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility plans in Nigeria. YouthHubAfrica remodeled one of the existing buildings into a modernised ICT Lab where its students can access digital education; building and expanding their digital skills and knowledge.

The remodeled lab was equipped with 31 computers, 17 UPS, 1 Projector, and 1 Projector Screen. With the commissioning of the ICT lab, students will be able to learn about digital skills that will better position them for the future of work.

In his remarks at the school commissioning, Huawei Technologies’ deputy managing director, Kelvin Yang, said that the initiative would provide the youngsters with unparalleled resources for teaching, research, learning, and other academic needs, just as their counterparts around the world do.

“It is a demonstration of our collective goal to enhance ICT knowledge in the educational institution,” he said.

He commended Prof Gambari, for the tremendous support and emphasised that the federal government attaches great importance to the cultivation of ICT talents, especially helping young students master ICT technology and knowledge, which is very important to the Nigerian people.”

In his opening remarks, Executive Director of YouthHubAfrica, Rotimi Olawale, expressed the hope that the student of the citadel of learning benefitting from this initiative would emerge to become productive members of their community and at the frontline of digital revolution in Africa.
