Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy President of the Senate, Jibril Barau; present and past national chairman of All Progressives Congress(APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Dr Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday stormed the House of Representatives chamber to witness the defection of two New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling party.
The lawmakers are the members representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, and the representative of Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, Hon. Sagir Koki.
In their separate letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers cited the unresolved crisis and internal divisions within their former party as reasons for their defections to the APC.
The minority leader of the House, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, consistently raised points of order throughout the reading of the letters and reception of the defectors, but Speaker Abbas did not recognise him.
One of the defectors, a former chieftain of APC had served as the director-general of the campaign organisation that produced Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the 19th House of Representatives.
