GBV, Child Protection: UNICEF Donates 195 Cartons of WASH, Kits

UNICEF has donated 195 cartons of WASH and Dignity Kits to Zamfara Ministry of Women Affairs to Strengthen Child Protection and Support GBV Survivors.

The Information Officer Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Suleiman Aliyu Gusau  who made this known through a press statement said the  Zamfara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has received 195 cartons of WASH and Dignity Kits from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to strengthen Child Protection (CP) interventions and provide support to survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across all 14 local government areas of the state.

Suleiman Aliyu revealed that the donation is aimed at improving the welfare and protection of vulnerable children, women, girls, and persons affected by violence.

The statement said that the the Overseeing Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hassan Shehu Usman, represented by the Director of Child Protection and Development, Hajiya Farida Abdulrazak Adamu, described child protection and GBV as critical issues requiring collective action.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal to strengthen child protection systems, promote awareness, and enforce measures against perpetrators of abuse and violence.

Dr. Usman noted that the donation is a timely intervention that will enhance ongoing efforts to provide care, protection, and essential support services to survivors of  CP/GBV and vulnerable children.

He emphasized that the kits will help meet immediate hygiene and personal care needs, restore dignity, and improve the well-being of beneficiaries across the state.

The Permanent Secretary further disclosed that the items will be distributed through Child protection CP/GBV Desk Officers in all 14 Local Government Areas to ensure prompt access for survivors when needed.
