The Gombe State Police Command has announced the assumption of Umar Ahmed Chuso as the new Commissioner of Police in the state.

CP Chuso, who became the 24th Commissioner of the State Command, takes over from CP Bello Yahaya, who has been redeployed by the Inspector-General of Police to the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.

Addressing officers and stakeholders upon assuming duty, CP Chuso called for sustained cooperation from all segments of society to effectively tackle crime and social vices across Gombe State.

In a statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the new police boss reaffirmed his resolve to strengthen community-based policing, describing it as a critical tool for crime prevention, intelligence-led operations, and improved police–community relations.

He urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, religious bodies, and residents to deepen collaboration with the Police through timely intelligence sharing and active participation in community policing initiatives, reassuring the public of his commitment to protecting lives and property and to sustaining peace and security across Gombe State.
