Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has constituted the State Committee on Fertilizer Distribution to ensure transparent distribution of agricultural inputs for the 2026 farming season.

The committee is expected to oversee the effective distribution of fertilizer across the state and ensure the commodity reaches genuine farmers to boost agricultural productivity and strengthen food security.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the governor approved the committee with immediate effect.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security will serve as chairman, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government; the Special Adviser on Agriculture; the Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture; and the Director of Agriculture are members.

The committee also includes representatives of civil society organisations, namely Ibrahim Yusuf, Prof. Tahir Inuwa and Rev. Chris Godobe, alongside representatives of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and a representative of persons with disabilities.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture will serve as the committee’s secretary.

The SSG said the committee’s broad-based membership reflects the government’s determination to promote transparency, accountability and fairness in the distribution process, ensuring that subsidised fertilizer gets to intended beneficiaries across all parts of the state.

The letter noted that the appointments take effect from July 27, 2026.
