Gombe State has inaugurated 11 local government area coordinators to drive the implementation of the federal government’s Renewed Hope Initiative at the grassroots.
It is aimed at expanding social protection, economic empowerment and community development across the state.
The deputy governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, who represented Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, performed the inauguration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Square in Gombe.
Jatau described the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a people-centered intervention designed to lift the vulnerable and stimulate inclusive economic growth.
He said the initiative reflects the President’s commitment to improving the living standards of Nigerians, particularly through empowerment programmes targeting women, youth and small-scale entrepreneurs.
Jatau said the Gombe State government was determined to ensure that the benefits of the initiative reach communities at the ward and household levels, noting that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been personally involved in monitoring its implementation nationwide.
He charged the newly inaugurated coordinators to see their appointments as a call to service rather than a privilege, stressing that performance would be judged strictly by impact on the people.
“To be appointed is not enough. The real celebration will come when tangible results are delivered to the grassroots,” he said, assuring that the state government would provide the necessary support to ensure success.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for appointing Hon. Dr. Aishatu Jibril Dukku as the State Coordinator of the initiative, describing her as a seasoned administrator and grassroots mobiliser capable of delivering results.
In her welcome address, Dr. Dukku said the Renewed Hope Initiative is a national social development platform established to support the Federal Government’s agenda through targeted empowerment of vulnerable groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, families facing economic hardship and crisis-affected communities.
She explained that the initiative would work in collaboration with relevant ministries, departments and agencies to avoid duplication and ensure effective delivery of programmes.
According to her, the initiative’s mandate includes economic and social empowerment, food security, livelihoods support, assistance to internally displaced persons, community-based development, advocacy for social inclusion and strategic partnerships.
Dr Dukku thanked President Tinubu, the First Lady, and Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the confidence reposed in her, expressing optimism that Gombe would emerge as one of the best-performing states under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The coordinators are: Alhaji Abubakar Baragu (Akko), Alhaji Mu’azu Garba (Balanga), JB Falang (Billiri), Mohammed Gambo Magaji (Dukku), Honourable Adamu (Funakaye), Alhaji Bashir Nuhu Aliko (Gombe), Alhaji Faruk Ali Umar (Kaltungo), Mohammed Dauda Abubakar (Kwami), Alhaji Usman Jahun (Nafada), Audu Lauko (Shongom) and Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan (Yamaltu/Deba).
In his remarks, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Mr Nitte Amangal, described the Renewed Hope Initiative as a strategic intervention to support vulnerable Nigerians.
Amangal commended President Tinubu for the programme and lauded the appointment of Dr Dukku as state coordinator, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
