Gombe State chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has restated its loyalty and support to the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the party’s leader in the state and former Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo.
PDP publicity secretary in the state Murtala Usman, in a press statement yesterday, declared the chapter’s support for Atiku also condemned the protest by a group of youths allegedly sponsored by a former minister Maina Waziri, against Ibrahim Dankwambo.
The party spokesman cautioned the former minister of police affairs against interference into the affairs of the party in the state in which he is not a member and causing problems by allegedly sponsoring a protest against the immediate past governor of the state who is a leader of the party.
“Today the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office was stormed by some disgruntled elements sponsored by a PDP stalwart from Yobe State to blackmail our party leader his Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo OON, PhD, (Talban Gombe) and to cause disaffection and chaos within the party in Gombe state.
“The sponsor, who contested elections many times in Yobe State and could not win any, is a well-known sell out candidate and a political merchant.”
“He should go and concern himself with the political crisis bedeviling Yobe State and be won over that he should stop undue interference into the political affairs of Gombe state.
“The party leadership in Gombe State is 100% loyal to the PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar GCON, (Wazirin Adamawa). We also want to make it clear to all our teeming supporters that we are totally with the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo OON, PhD, (Tolban Gombe) as our party leader and a staunch supporter of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) from top to bottom. Our avowed commitment is to win the 2023 election at all levels as a party”.
