Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) and governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, and the people of the state over the killing of two police operatives in Umuahaia, the state capital on Friday.
In a condolence message he signed yesterday, Abiodun declared that perpetrators of the heinous act were enemies of the state and Nigeria at large, who would be caught and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He urged the people of the state to join hands with Governor Otti towards tackling the menace of insecurity in the state by being vigilant and promptly providing credible information in their communities on activities of criminal elements.
The Ogun governor also called on the police and other sister security agencies to swiftly fish out the assailants to assure residents of the state of their lives and property safety.
He further reiterated the call for state police by the Southern Governors’ Forum, adding that its introduction would help resolve local crimes in various states of the federation.
“I urge the people of the state to continue collaborating with security agencies by providing credible information that will help to nip criminal activities in the bud.
“Every crime has a local outlook. It is on that note that I call on the federal government once again to look into the issue of state policing as a way of strengthening our security architecture in the area of local intelligence gathering at the community level”.
