Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has received former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Agaie local government area who recently decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bago, who welcomed them over the weekend at the headquarters of the local government area congratulated and reassured them that they will be given equal opportunities.
He noted that the APC stood for unity and urged the new members to play vital roles in that regard.
The governor further called on party members to shun violence in expressing their displeasure over any particular political candidate but use primary elections as a platform to chose their preferred candidates.
He used the forum to also urge them to be tolerant and co-exist peacefully with one another.
Speaking on behalf of those who decamped, the former Zonal Chairman PDP, Alhaji Abdulkadir Agaie, said they decided to join the APC because of the vision and direction of the governor.
He said Bago’s people oriented policies and programmes endeared them to join the ruling party and contribute their quota to national development.
Abdulkadir appreciated the governor’s warm reception accorded to them and promised to work for the overall success of the APC at the next general elections.
