Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has encouraged youths to take part in the ongoing agricultural revolution of his administration to better their economic life.
The governor stated this while in the palace of Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu as part of Sallah homage that has become the tradition of the governor in the state.
He said the people of the Emirate, especially the youths, should take advantage of the agricultural potential of the Emirate and the many agricultural initiatives and to embrace agriculture.
According to him, his administration has plans to distribute tractors, combine harvesters, and other farm implements across the 25 local government areas of the state for the next farming season.
He also said the state government would consider the Etsugaie road under the Rural Access World Bank-assisted project to ensure easy transportation of goods and services.
Similarly Governor Bago said that the contractor handling the township road project in Agaie would soon continue with the project while adding that , the reconstruction of the Agaie General Hospital would soon commence, as all that needs to be procured for the completion of the project have been procured.
The governor explained that his visit was to share the joy of the Eid-el-Fitr with the Emir and the people of the Emirate and reiterate the commitment of both the federal and state governments to the security and welfare of the citizens, as well as listen to understand their challenges with the view to attending to them.
The Emir of Agaie, Alh. Yusuf Nuhu, thanked the governor for the visit, which he said demonstrates his long-existing love for the people of Agaie, adding that Agaie Emirate will continue to support his administration’s policies and programmes.
He noted that the governor’s visit is historic and special, as it coincided with the traditional “Nko,” a day that traditional title holders in the Emirate pay homage after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
