Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed His Royal Highness Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, the Emir of Dass, as the Bauchi State Amirul Hajj for the 2024 Hajj Exercise in Saudi Arabia.
The secretary to the state government (SSG), Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim, who announced the appointment, said it took immediate effect.
A statement signed by media aide to the governor, Mukhtar Gidado, on Tuesday, explained that the emir of Dass’ appointment with 13 other prominent people of the state was based on their devotion, exemplary dedication, discipline and service to Almighty Allah.
He said they were carefully selected to oversee the smooth coordination and facilitation of pilgrims from the state during the holy pilgrimage.
Gidado said the Amirul Hajj team comprised individuals with extensive experience in managing pilgrimage affairs, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of pilgrims.
He said, “Their appointment underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to providing seamless pilgrimage experiences for all intending pilgrims from Bauchi State.”
Governor Bala Mohammed expressed confidence in the capability of the team, emphasising their capacity to uphold the highest standards of service delivery and professionalism throughout the Hajj exercise.
He reiterated the state government’s resolve to supporting pilgrims and ensuring their welfare throughout their journey.
Other members of the Amirul Hajj Team are: Hon. Jamilu Umar Dahiru, deputy speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, as deputy Amirul Hajj; Hon. Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, chief judge, Bauchi State; Khadi Umar Ahmed Liman Grand Khadi of Bauchi State; Hon. Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza commissioner for religious affairs; Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Jalam, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs; Alhaji Ibrahim Y. M Baba, Ibrahim Saidu Jahun.
The rest are: Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari; Sheikh Zubairu A. Madaki; Sheikh Salisu Sulaiman Ningi; Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi; Malam Ahmad Inuwa Na’ibi; Muhammad Haruna Barde, Deputy Chief of Staff who serve as secretary.
The team members were directed to collaborate with relevant authorities, including the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Arabian government to ensure a seamless and successful pilgrimage for all Bauchi State pilgrims.
The governor urged the team to discharge their duties diligently with the utmost sincerity and in accordance with the principles of fairness, equity, and justice.
