Gov Eno Lauds CNS For Restoring Electricity To Community 15 Years After Blackout

After 15 years in darkness with attendant lull in socio-economic activities, life has returned in full swing to Uduk community in Ikot Abasi local government area of Akwa Ibom State, following the intervention of the
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who has donated a new 300 KVA transformer to serve the area and its environs.

Abbas while inaugurating the electricity project described the extension of power from an existing 11KV footage supply at Nduk community and inauguration of 300 KVA power plant became necessary to relief the people from several years of socio-economic challenges.

Represented by Rear Adm. Chiedozie Okechie, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), the Eastern Naval Command, Abass acknowledged that security and prosperity of the nation could only be strengthened when community are empowered through meaningful development projects, noting the electricity facility as as very remarkable.

“This understanding continues to guide Nigerian Navy civil – military efforts under the CNS Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme (SIQIPS), which seek to address critical community needs, while fostering stronger bond between arm forces and people will serve,” Abass explained.

He identified electricity as one of the most special drivers of economic development that empowers homes, supports education, stimulates commerce, enhancing security and create opportunities for growth.

The CNS explained that the restoration of the electricity to Nduk undoubtedly improved Ikot Abasi community, the quality of life of residents and development of the community.

He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to protect and maintain the project to ensure it sustainability for future generations.

“The vision, dedication and commitment to community development are clearly reflected in the execution of this project. This noble initiative demonstrates that leadership is most meaningful when it has positive impacts on the lives of others,” the CNS stressed.

However, Governor Umo Eno, who was represented by the Commissioner for Power, Hon. Iniobong Robson, commended the Nigerian Navy, for the gesture, noting that it would go a long way towards improving the living conditions of rural communities.

He said the CNS special intervention and quick impact project aligned with his administration’s ARISE agenda, particularly it’s focus on socioeconomic development, peaceful coexistence and the security of rural communities.

“I want to appreciate the CNS for his Special Intervention and Quick Impact projects aimed at addressing the socioeconomic development of our rural communities. This initiative aligns with the ARISE agenda of our administration, which is aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and enhancing security of our rural populace,” he said.

Also speaking, Rear Admiral, Aniefiok Uko, Director of Operations, Naval Headquarters, noted that the presence of Nduk community demonstrates the importance attached to the initiative that promotes development, cooperation and mutual trust between the Nigerian Navy and the civil populace.

Uko said the Chief of Naval Staff(CNS) intervention project was a civil military cooperation initiative conceived by CNS to honour serving Rear Admiral given them the opportunity to execute meaningful development projects in their homes community.

“The initiative reflects Nigerian Navy’s commitment to touching lives strengthen its relationship with Civil populace and contributing to national development through practical intervention,” Uko said.
