During the engagement, Governor Eno emphasised the need to accelerate project delivery and requested clear timelines, defined milestones, and actionable next steps to move the project from planning to execution.

“The Akwa Ibom State government and prospective partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the Deep Sea Port initiative, a landmark Blue Economy project with the potential to position the State as a leading maritime, trade, and logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea,” a statement by the state commissioner for information, Hon. The government maintained that the blue economy potential holds the key to raking in more internally generated revenues (IGRs), more private sector jobs and other allied businesses with the unemployment rate in the State expected to be curbed at the realization of multi – billion naira maritime project.

Dr Aniekan Umanah explained that need to develop the vital maritime sector, informed the governor’s mission to Paris, France, where he, along with other State government’s delegation interfaced with key technical partners including Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group, to iron out some grey areas towards effective implementation of the project.

“The state has recorded another significant milestone in its pursuit of the Ibom Deep Sea Port Project, as Governor Umo Eno led a high-level technical engagement and strategic working session with Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group and other key project partners in Paris, France.

“The meeting, focused on the review of the Technical Feasibility Report (TFR) recently submitted by Worley Parsons, and provided an opportunity for stakeholders to assess critical issues relating to project viability, investment structuring, implementation frameworks, and long-term sustainability,” Umanah stated.
