Adamawa State government has relaxed the curfew imposed on the Lamurde local government area. The governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, urged the residents to sustain peace in the area. Through his chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor said the ease of the curfew followed a review of the security situation and the noticeable improvement over the prolonged crisis.

He said the relaxed curfew takes immediate effect and would now be in force from 6 a.m. to 6p.m. daily until further notice.

Fintiri commended the people for their cooperation with security agencies and for the gradual restoration of calm in the area.

“This improvement reflects the value of the decisive measures taken by the government to halt the violence and restore normalcy,” Fintiri said.

While announcing the curfew relaxation, the governor warned that the state government would not tolerate any further breach of the peace.

He urged the residents to maintain the prevailing calm and refrain from any actions that could reverse the gains recorded so far.

Fintiri reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Lamurde and ensuring the continued safety and security of life and property across the state.

To this end, security agencies have been directed to maintain a strong presence and enforce law and order in the area. Residents are therefore advised to remain law-abiding and not test the government’s resolve.

He called on community leaders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, and all residents to embrace dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively to ensure that Lamurde and the entire state remain peaceful, secure, and prosperous.
