Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration has recorded visible and landmark achievements in Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Madagali, and Michika Local Government Areas—the M5 zone.
- ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Mubi North: Reconstruction of the 24.1 km Mubi–Maiha Federal Road; construction of the 6.6 km Mubi Bypass Road and the 3.5 km Mubi–Gyela Road; and development of road networks within the Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi community.
* Mubi South: Construction of 2.42 km of township roads and rehabilitation works on sections of the Mubi–Maiha Road.
* Maiha: Construction of 5.8 km of township roads; construction of the 40 km Maiha–Fulbere–Zhedinyi–Pella–Mararraban Pella Road; and plans/finalisation for improved Maiha–Mubi road connectivity.
* Madagali: Construction of the 14 km Sukur Road, providing access to the UNESCO Sukur Cultural Heritage Site, with additional funding for asphalt overlay; construction of 1.95 km of township roads in Fadagali, alongside broader township road projects; and flood-control interventions.
* Michika: Construction of 5.1 km of township roads; construction of the 11.2 km Plum Road; and ongoing/overlay works on the Michika–Garta–Kamale Road, covering up to 17.5 km, including bridges.
- HEALTHCARE
* Mubi North: Construction and completion of the Betso Primary Health Care Centre and support for the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, including the conversion/upgrade involving General Hospital Mubi.
* Mubi South: Construction of the Monduva Primary Health Care Centre.
* Maiha: Construction of the Mayo Nguli Primary Health Care Centre and provision of staff quarters at Maiha Cottage Hospital.
* Madagali: Construction and upgrading of the Cottage/General Hospital in Gulak, as well as multiple Primary Health Care Centres.
* Michika: Expansion and upgrading of the College of Health Science and Technology, including classrooms, administrative and office blocks, equipment, and water and sanitation facilities, alongside multiple Primary Health Care Centres.
* Across the M5 zone: Construction and completion of several PHCs; upgrading and rehabilitation of hospitals and healthcare facilities, including theatres, maternity complexes and laboratories; and broader improvements in staffing and access to healthcare services.
- EDUCATION
* Construction of model schools comprising nursery, primary and junior secondary sections under the statewide one-school-per-LGA initiative in each of the five LGAs: Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Madagali and Michika.
* Madagali: Establishment of a Model/Mega Secondary School and upgrading of sports facilities.
* Michika: Expansion of the College of Health Science and Technology to strengthen the training of health professionals.
* Mubi North: Development of road networks and related support around ADSU, Mubi, as well as land-related support for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
* Statewide benefits: Free WAEC and NECO registration and other education-support programmes benefiting students across the state.
- WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION
* Mubi North: Rehabilitation and upgrading of the Mubi Water Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 300,000 litres per hour.
* Mubi South: Development of a water supply scheme to Geylla from Gude Town.
* Maiha: Upgrading of the Maiha Water Supply Scheme, including a 7 km pipeline extension.
* Madagali: Provision of seven modular water schemes, a 4 km pipeline expansion, and replacement of the solar surface pump in Gulak.
* Michika: Upgrading of the Michika Water Supply System, including 13 km of reticulation; provision of solar-powered boreholes, tanks and water networks in Bazza and other communities; and reactivation of boreholes.
* Across the zone: Provision of multiple solar-powered boreholes, ground and elevated water tanks, pipeline extensions and modular water schemes, as well as rehabilitation of existing water systems across various communities.
- POWER AND ELECTRIFICATION
* Development of hybrid solar mini-grids, including groundbreaking ceremonies for projects in Michika and other communities such as Bazza, Madagali and Muchalla.
* Commissioning of the Shuwa Solar Mini-Grid in Madagali and flag-off of additional projects in Gulak and other locations.
* Broader efforts to restore and expand electricity supply across communities in the M5 zone.
- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, MARKETS AND EMPOWERMENT
* Mubi: Development of the Mubi International Cattle Market into a modern livestock park with large-capacity facilities, including loading bays, veterinary units and other supporting infrastructure, positioning it as a major regional livestock trading hub.
* Implementation of poverty-alleviation and wealth-creation initiatives, including grants and support for small-scale entrepreneurs, youths and women.
* Agribusiness support programmes and empowerment schemes for small-scale entrepreneurs, youths and women across the five LGAs.
- SECURITY AND OTHER INTERVENTIONS
* Construction of a Police Dormitory and NSCDC Office in Madagali Town.
* Support for security agencies in the fight against criminality, insurgency and other forms of crime.
* Flood-control interventions in vulnerable communities.
* Improved access and infrastructure in previously insurgency-affected communities.
* Support for traditional institutions and community structures.
These achievements form part of Governor Fintiri’s wider statewide development agenda, which includes extensive road networks, more than 100 Primary Health Care Centres, model schools across all 21 LGAs, electricity and grid-reconnection projects, and extensive empowerment schemes.
Fintiri has done it as a State Legislator, Speaker and Acting Governor, and he has continued the work as Governor. As Senator, he will do even more for the people of the M5 zone and Adamawa State.
