Kebbi State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday commissioned a 5km road network in Sokoto metropolis executed by the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
The Governors are on a one-day working visit to inaugurate projects executed by the Aliyu administration.
Kefas described the visit as a homecoming, saying Taraba and Sokoto States are one and are connected by shared identities and heritage.
Dr Kefas also acknowledged his Sokoto counterpart’s efforts in the dividends of democracy to the state’s people.

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu said the Buzaye Area Road Network Project comprises Argungu Road, Gobir Road, Lanzu Road, and other connecting roads, totalling approximately 2 kilometres.
“First and foremost, let me extend my profound appreciation to my colleague and friend, His Excellency the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, for honouring our invitation to commission the Buzaye road network.
“Sir, your presence here” clearly demonstrates your love for the people of Sokoto.
“Road infrastructure remains one of the most critical foundations for sustainable socio-economic development.
“Well-constructed roads “acilitate the efficient movement of people and goods, improve access to residential communities, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets, and business centres, while also strengthening security, promoting environmental improvement, and stimulating economic growth.”
Governor Aliyu added that” the newly completed road network in the Buzaye Area will significantly ease transportation challenges, improve connectivity within the community, increase commercial activities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
“This project forms an integral part of our broader Urban Renewal Programme, through which our administration continues to transform the physical landscape of the Sokoto metropolis.
Under this initiative, numerous strategic infrastructure projects have been executed to modernise our cities, improve public amenities, and create an environment that is functional, resilient, attractive, and capable of supporting sustainable economic development.
“The commissioning of the Buzaye Road Network further expands the growing portfolio of impactful projects successfully delivered by this administration.
“To us, infrastructure development extends beyond the construction of roads and buildings; it is an investment in human development, economic opportunity, and the long-term prosperity of our people.
“We remain steadfast in ur commitment to ensuring that every part of Sokoto State benefits from inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.”
Dr Ahmed Aliyu also commended the Ministry of Lands and Housing, the contractors, consultants, engineers, and all stakeholders whose professionalism and dedication contributed to the successful execution of the project.
“Their collective effort” have made today’s commissioning potoday’s I also extend my sincere appreciation to the good people of the Buzaye Area for their patience, understanding, cooperation, and support throughout the construction period.
“Development is most successful when government and communities work together in partnership to achieve shared goals.
“As we commission this road network today, I urge residents, motorists, and all users to take collective ownership of this valuable public asset by ensuring its proper use, safeguarding it against misuse, and supporting its maintenance.
“Public infrastructure belongs to all of us, and its preservation is a shared responsibility owed to both present and future generations.
“Let me reassure the people of Sokoto State that our administration will continue to prioritise projects that improve living standards, expand economic opportunities, and promote sustainable urban and rural development.
“We remain resolute in delivering people-centred policies and transformative projects that reflect our vision of a modern, prosperous, secure, and inclusive Sokoto State.

The Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government Area, Alhaji Yau Muhammad Danda, extolled the developmental strides of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu.
According to the Chairman, the people of the state, particularly in Sokoto South LGA, have never had it so good as under the administration of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu and his mentor, APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
