Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a robust security framework to prevent breaches and foster development in the state.
The governor stated this when he visited Maj-Gen. Adamu Luka, the national coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Abuja.
The discussions during the visit centered on strengthening collaboration between the state and federal security agencies to address emerging threats and enhance public safety.
Governor Kefas said the visit was hinged on his desire to protect his citizens and support development initiative in the state.
“The strategic visit is part of the ongoing efforts to bolster security in the state. My administration is committed to building a robust security framework through closer cooperation with the National Counter Terrorism Center and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).”
He stressed the need for improved intelligence sharing and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property in the state.
The governor, however outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing internal security and sustain the partnerships with relevant federal institutions, adding that such is critical in preventing insecurity and fostering development.
Maj. Gen. Luka, the national coordinator of NCTC, in his response commended the governor’s proactive approach to safeguarding the lives and property of the people.
The NCTC coordinator, who stressed the importance of synergy between federal and state actors in tackling terrorism and violent extremism, explained that Nigeria’s evolving security challenges require intelligence-driven operations, continuous capacity building, and community-based strategies to effectively counter threats and build resilience.
He said, the centre was already working on modalities to enhance technical support, joint operations, and strengthen mechanisms to prevent violent extremism, particularly in the regions.
