Wife of Zamfara State governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has commended the minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her visionary leadership and commitment to advancing the socio-economic status of women across the federation.

A statement signed by Rabi Yusuf, Press Secretary Office of the First Lady, Zamfara State, said the governor’s wife spoke following the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026, held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

She described the initiative as a transformative movement designed to reposition Nigerian women as central pillars of national development. She noted that the minister’s efforts reflect purposeful leadership in building lasting frameworks for gender equity and the comprehensive protection of women and children.

Reflecting on the event’s theme, “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice, One Movement, One Choice,” the First Lady emphasized that the collective strength and resilience of Nigerian women are fundamental to national progress. She maintained that when women are uplifted, families are strengthened and societies prosper, further reaffirming Zamfara State’s dedication to investing in women through quality education, economic opportunities and inclusive participation in governance.

The First Lady also utilised the platform to call upon women nationwide, particularly the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the gesture given to them under the Renewed Hope Agenda. She described the present administration’s roadmap as a credible and strategic path toward achieving a more inclusive, prosperous and self-reliant nation.

This call to action aligned with the remarks of the Minister, who earlier reaffirmed that economic and social empowerment remain the cornerstones of the initiative, enabling women to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth.

The rally, which brought together over 35,000 women from across Nigeria’s political, social and cultural divides, served as a powerful show of solidarity for inclusion and progress. The First Lady concluded by urging Nigerian women to remain united, stating that this movement marks the dawn of a new era where every woman is empowered, every girl is educated and every citizen is positioned to contribute to national greatness

The statement said the event was graced by high-profile dignitaries, including the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON; the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio; the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Abbas Tajudeen; as well as the wives of various state governors and other key stakeholders.
