Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has expressed continued support for democracy while marking 26 years of unbroken democratic governance in the country.

The governor said this in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhatar Gidado and made available to reporters in Bauchi.

He lauded the resilience of Nigerians and the sacrifices of heroes past, noting that Democracy Day symbolises the nation’s journey toward civil liberties, the rule of law, and accountable leadership.

“Democracy Day is a solemn reminder of our collective journey and a tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for our democratic freedom,” the governor remarked.

Governor Mohammed pointed to transformative progress in Bauchi State across various sectors, attributing these achievements to purposeful governance anchored in democratic ideals.

He emphasised that democracy transcends elections, focusing on delivering the tangible benefits that improve citizens’ lives.

“These achievements are a testament to the gains of democracy and our administration’s unwavering commitment to good governance, transparency, and people-oriented policies,” he said.

As Bauchi State joins the nation in marking the occasion, the governor urged citizens to uphold unity, peace, and the principles of good governance. He called on Nigerians to reflect on the progress made and renew their commitment to building a just, equitable, and prosperous society.

Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive development and the protection of citizens’ rights, stressing that these values remain at the core of Bauchi State’s governance model.
