Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has been honoured with the Best-performing Governor in the Oil and Gas Sector Award at the 3rd Edition of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Forum Awards.

Speaking during the award presentation, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Usman Shehu Usman said the award reflects the Bauchi State government’s ongoing reforms under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, aimed at strengthening institutions, diversifying the economy and developing human capital in alignment with national development goals.

Shehu who represented the governor yesterday at the 3rd Edition of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Forum Awards 2026, organised by RANA Group Limited, in partnership with the federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, commended the forum for recognising individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to national development across key sectors, describing the initiative as timely and worthy of broad support.

He revealed that Governor Bala has approved the establishment of an Oil and Gas Institute in Bauchi State, noting that students have already commenced skills acquisition training in various areas of the oil and gas value chain.

According to him, the institute is the first state-owned oil and gas training institute in Nigeria.

The commissioner further highlighted key achievements of the Bala Mohammed administration, including reforms in governance delivery, infrastructure development, health sector improvements, implementation of an education blueprint, and strategic youth and women empowerment programmes.

He noted that the administration’s commitment to good governance has begun to yield positive results, as Bauchi State continues to attract development partners and investors, with several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) already signed across critical human and economic sectors.

He assured that the Bauchi State government would continue to pursue sound, people-focused policies in line with global best practices for the benefit of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The commissioner also congratulated the organisers of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Forum on the successful hosting of the 3rd edition of the event, wishing them sustained growth and success.
