Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on Sunday, condemned the act of age falsification by some civil servants with the intention of extending their years of service in the state.

Governor Oborevwori stated this at a thanksgiving service held in honour of the state Head of Service, Mrs Mininim Oseji at the Church of God Mission, Asaba Bishopric Headquarters, on Sunday.

He lamented that such practices deprive younger and more energetic persons the opportunity to be recruited into the state workforce.

Delta State governor however expressed satisfaction with the civil service commission’s ongoing screening and age verification exercise, affirming his full support for the exercise.

While assuring civil servants in the state that his administration will soon appoint Permanent Secretaries, Governor Oborevwori said their appointments would be thoroughly guided by due process and divine wisdom.

The Governor lauded the Head of Service for attaining her position with integrity, and prayed that she would leave with the same virtue.

“Please maintain the integrity that has defined your career. Gratitude is important looking at Psalm 100:4, which encourages believers to “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise,” the Governor quoted.

Earlier, Mrs Oseji expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the honour bestowed upon her, stating that she never thought she would reach “this pinnacle” when she started her civil service career as a young medical officer several years ago.

Bishop Emeritus of the Church of God Mission, Bishop Nathaniel Mordi who delivered a sermon titled: “Focusing on Christ for His Immeasurable and Infinite Love”, emphasised the importance of making Christ the centre figure of one’s life through conscious efforts, discipline, prayer and obedience to God’s word.

While congratulating Mrs Oseji for her appointment as Head of Service, the Bishop praised her unwavering dedication to her work and exemplary Christian life.
