Abia State governor, Alex Otti will on Wednesday and Tuesday next week flag off the construction of two strategic roads in Abia North Senatorial District.
The roads are the 30 kilometers Arochukwu – Ndiokereke – Ozuabam, and the 11.5 kilometers Nunya -Eluama -Isuikwuato roads in Arochukwu and Isuikwuato Local Government areas.
Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, stated this at a press briefing on this week’s Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Otti in Umuahia, the state capital.
Joined by his counterpart of the Ministry of Education, Uche Eme-Uche as well as the Media and Publicity Adviser to the governor, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Kanu said the projects are part of the Governor’s strategic road infrastructure development initiative.
“Of course, roads are serious enablers for a good business environment and the government will not relent in ensuring that roads in the state are put in very good motorable condition,” he noted.
Beside road projects, Kanu said the administration has recorded milestones in education, health, infrastructure development, sanitation, commerce, trade and industry among others in line with its campaign promises.
He announced that the government has brought backward the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise which is normally observed on the last Saturday of the month to this Saturday.
He explained that the change was because the last Saturday falls within the Easter period as there would be movement of people from both within and outside the state for the ocassion.
