Governor of Katsina State Dikko Umaru Radda, yesterday presented a N897.8 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Katsina State House of Assembly, pledging to deepen reforms and accelerate development across the state.
Tagged “Building Your Future III,” the 2026 Appropriation Bill marks the third annual budget of the Radda administration and represents a 29.7 percent increase over the 2025 fiscal plan.
The proposal allocates N167.7 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 18.7 percent of the total, and N730.1 billion for capital projects, accounting for 81.3 percent.
Presenting the estimates before lawmakers, Governor Radda said the budget reflected his administration’s commitment to inclusive, community-driven governance.
He explained that the government adopted a participatory budgeting process that engaged citizens from all 361 communities and 316 wards to identify priority projects for the year.
According to the governor, the 2026 budget seeks to consolidate gains in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and water supply.
The economic sector received the highest allocation of ₦371.8 billion or 41.4 percent, followed by the social sector with ₦341.4 billion or 38 percent, while the administrative and law and justice sectors received ₦177.2 billion and ₦7.3 billion, respectively.
Governor Radda described the 2026 fiscal proposal as a disciplined, people-centered plan designed to strengthen public institutions, empower communities, and enhance service delivery.
He assured that prudent financial management and transparency would guide the budget’s implementation.
Responding, the speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, commended the governor for what he called a “detailed, visionary, and people-oriented budget” that reflects accountability and fiscal discipline.
He praised the administration’s achievements in restoring peace, expanding educational and healthcare facilities, empowering young people and women, and opening up rural roads to promote economic growth.
The speaker reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to give the 2026 Appropriation Bill “serious and patriotic attention,” ensuring that all allocations are realistic and aligned with the “Building Your Future” development agenda.
He pledged the legislature’s continued collaboration with the executive to ensure the timely passage and effective implementation of the budget, which he described as a bold step toward consolidating Governor Radda’s transformation vision for Katsina State.
