Governor Umaru Dimko Radda of Katsina State has ordered the immediate suspension of Lawal Ibrahim, a staff of the Ministry of Education who previously served as Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Dantankari in Dandume Local Government Area.
Ibrahim’s suspension follows allegations of his involvement in the sexual assault of a female student at the school.
A statement issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, Director of Press to the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), confirmed that the governor received a report detailing the sexual harassment allegations against the former principal.
The statement said the governor directed the “Commissioner of Basic Secondary Education to immediately suspend the said Lawal Ibrahim and investigate the allegation with dispatch, take appropriate action and report back to the governor.”
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State has been tasked to thoroughly investigate the accusation, and also open an inquiry into the actions of the Dandume Divisional Police Officer (DPO) over allegations of corruption or compromise in handling the matter.
A comprehensive report is to be presented back to the governor upon completion of these investigations.
