Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the State of adequate security, urging them to remain vigilant and law-abiding throughout their service year.

The governor gave the assurance on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members held at the temporary orientation camp, Government College, Kaduna.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Esther Ibrahim, Sani congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their academic programmes and charged them to approach the orientation course with seriousness and a sense of purpose.

He described the orientation programme as a critical platform for instilling discipline, leadership values and national consciousness, stressing that participants must take full advantage of the opportunity to prepare themselves for the demands of national service.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, noting that necessary measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety.

“Security is a collective responsibility. You must remain conscious of your environment and promptly report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities,” he said.

Sani also urged the corps members to embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, describing it as a viable pathway to self-reliance amid shrinking white-collar job opportunities.

Earlier, the state coordinator of the NYSC, Efeke Murna Dadaza, disclosed that a total of 2,315 prospective corps members comprising 901 males and 1,414 females were sworn in for the exercise, including those redeployed from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

She commended the corps members for their orderly conduct during registration and encouraged them to adhere strictly to camp rules while participating actively in all activities designed to equip them physically, mentally and emotionally for the service year.

Dadaza also appreciated the Kaduna State government for its sustained support to the scheme, particularly in improving infrastructure at the temporary orientation camp.
