Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has provided vehicles to the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen in the state’s 23 local government areas to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The vehicles were presented on Saturday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Sadiq Mamman Lagos, who described the gesture as a routine exercise ahead of elections.
Lagos said the vehicles would enable the party chairmen to reach rural communities and wards to mobilise support for the APC and its candidates.
He explained that the vehicles would facilitate movement across the local government areas and help party officials reach grassroots supporters during campaigns.
The commissioner also urged northerners to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration until the end of its tenure, arguing that the North should exercise patience while the South completes its turn in power.
He said the North had previously benefited from eight years of the Muhammadu Buhari administration and should allow the South to complete its tenure before seeking another opportunity to produce the president.
Lagos described Kaduna State as strategically important to the APC’s electoral plans, citing its political influence in northern Nigeria and its position on the voters’ register.
He said the party was targeting three million votes in Kaduna State, expressing confidence in its mobilisation efforts across the state’s three senatorial zones.
The APC chairman in Kaduna State, Hon. Atiku Sankey, said the party undertook a similar exercise in 2023, when vehicles were distributed to chairmen of its 23 local government chapters.
Sankey, who witnessed the exercise while he was a candidate in 2023, described the latest distribution as part of the party’s routine preparations for elections and a gesture of appreciation to its members and leaders.
He said the beneficiaries were expected to use the vehicles for party mobilisation rather than personal purposes.
According to him, the vehicles would help party officials reach communities and wards across their respective local government areas to canvass votes for the APC and its candidates.
Sankey also described the APC as united, citing its presence across the state’s 23 local government areas and 255 wards.
On the conduct of the 2027 campaigns, he said the party would focus on issues, the achievements of the Tinubu administration and facts.
He added that the APC would abide by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, conduct peaceful campaigns and encourage other political parties to uphold peaceful democratic practices.
