Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has confirmed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Head of Civil Service.
The confirmation was announced in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Maimota’s elevation to the top bureaucratic position in the state comes weeks after she assumed office in an acting capacity following the removal of the former Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa.
The appointment, according to the statement, is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to strengthen the state’s public service and consolidate reforms aimed at improving efficiency and accountability across ministries, departments and agencies.
Her confirmation also coincides with the state government’s push to offset inherited liabilities, including gratuities and death benefits owed to pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.
Governor Yusuf said the decision reflected confidence in Maimota’s capacity to lead the civil service at a critical period of institutional reforms.
He charged the new Head of Service to leverage her experience to reposition the bureaucracy, ensure effective service delivery and sustain ongoing reforms in the system.
The governor expressed optimism that her leadership would bring renewed vigour to the public service and enhance productivity across the state workforce.
He also congratulated Maimota on her appointment and urged her to justify the confidence reposed in her by delivering a responsive and transparent civil service.
