Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the appointment of Alh. Dauda Iliya as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
The appointment followed the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau, who until his death in February 2024, served as the spokesperson for Governor Zulum.
The governor’s approval was conveyed in a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Until his appointment, Iliya was the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Chapter. He hails from Kwaya-Kusar local government area in southern part of the State.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his Master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024. He has attended numerous professional courses and trainings.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including NUJ and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Until his appointment, Dauda Iliya worked as a reporter for Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), covering Borno State.
The statement added that Zulum conveyed his congratulations to the appointee and urged him to utilise his wealth of experience in service to Borno State.
