To fortify his cabinet ahead of the 2027 general election, Niger state Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has appointed six new commissioners and four Special Advisers.
The appointment was coming on the heels of the resignation of some of the cabinet members who contested for various positions in the last primaries of the party in the state.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Abubakar Usman, said Bago has approved the appointment of six Commissioners-Designate, subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly.
The appointees are: Lucky Barau, Gurara Local Government Area; Isah Wakili, Bosso Local Government Area; Dr Isah Adamu, Kontagora Local Government Area; Emmanuel Alamu, Magama Local Government Area; Shuaibu Saidu Kaboji, Mashegu Local Government Area; and Mohammed Danladi Garba, Borgu Local Government Area.
The SSG further disclosed that Governor Bago also approved the appointment of Alhaji Nma Kolo as Chief Political Adviser, and that Yahaya Emilugi, Yusuf Tagwai, and Salman Yusuf were named Special Advisers on Political Matters for Zones A, B, and C, respectively.
The SSG stated that the appointments form part of the present administration’s efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and ensure broader representation across the State.
He said the Governor congratulated the appointees and urged them to apply their experience and commitment to the development of Niger State.
