Governor Sani Visits Family Of Woman Killed By Kaduna Mob Over Alleged Child Theft

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has visited the family of Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu, the woman killed by a mob over the alleged child theft in Marraban Jos communiy on Kaduna-Zaria Expressway in the State, assuring her relatives that those responsible for the killing would be brought to justice while the state government would cater for the education and welfare of her children.

The governor made this known post on his verified Facebook page, following his condolence visit to the bereaved family in Maraban Jos on Saturday evening.

According to Governor Sani, the visit was to personally express his sympathy and stand with the family during what he described as “a moment of profound grief.”

“I paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu in Maraban Jos, Kaduna, to personally express my heartfelt sympathy and stand with them in a moment of profound grief.

“I met with her husband, Malam Aliyu, and other members of the family, conveying my deepest condolences and assuring them that, in this painful season of loss, they do not walk alone,” he stated.

“I prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Ummulkhairi eternal rest and to strengthen her loved ones with patience, comfort, and the fortitude to bear this heavy burden,” he added.

Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring justice, declaring that everyone connected with the killing would be identified and prosecuted.

“During the visit, I reaffirmed our administration’s unwavering commitment to justice. I made it unequivocally clear that those responsible for this heinous act will be identified, apprehended, and brought before the law. We shall pursue every lead with diligence and resolve, and no individual connected to this tragic incident will escape accountability,” he said.

Providing an update on the ongoing investigation, the governor revealed that security agencies had already arraigned dozens of suspects while investigations continued.

“I informed the family that 41 suspects have been charged to court for culpable homicide, while 30 suspects have been charged with unlawful assembly. Additionally, 17 individuals who were not found culpable have been released, while 41 others remain under investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend additional suspects still at large,” he disclosed.

“I further assured them that a comprehensive investigation remains underway and that any police personnel found to have been directly or indirectly complicit will face the full consequences of the law,” he said.

The governor also announced that the Kaduna State Government would take responsibility for the education and welfare of the deceased’s children.

“We also pledged to Malam Aliyu that the Kaduna State Government will assume responsibility for the education and welfare of the children Ummulkhairi left behind. Our duty extends beyond words; it demands compassion, justice, and steadfast action,” Sani stated.

LEADERSHIP reports that the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu, an Islamic teacher, was forcefully seized from the Police in Marraban Jos last Sunday, June 21, 2026, and lynched by a mob over allegation of child theft while she missed her road in a neighbourhood on a her way to a function.
