Governor Sule Announces Bonus For Workers Ahead Of Xmas

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has extended an end-of-year bonus to civil servants in the state.

He, however, did not disclose the amount the state would be releasing to workers as a bonus.

The governor also launched the new public service rule to guide workers in the state when discharging their duties.

He announced this at the Nasarawa State Civil Service Week on Tuesday in Lafia.

“I don’t want to go ahead and say I’m paying 13 months, and LGAs will say they can only pay 30 to 40 per cent.

“So, because of that, we will ask the LGAs to go and do their due process, and find out how much they saved and tell me what percentage they can pay. The moment they tell me this is the percentage they can pay, that is exactly what the state can get,” he said.

The governor noted that Civil Service Week has provided yet another opportunity to assess the civil service of Nasarawa State as not just a workforce, but a living institution of people committed to excellence, integrity, and innovation.

According to the governor, the theme of the civil service week;

“Repositioning the Civil Service

For a Digital Aid Production Future” is well conceived at a time when the government is committed to making digital governance a key priority.

In this age of global digital transformation, no government can afford to operate without data tools, methods, and mindset.

“The civil service must evolve into a smart, technology-driven, and data-informed organisation capable of responding swiftly and effectively to the needs of the good people of Nasarawa state.

“This is why we are laying the foundation for a paperless, efficient and transparent public administration through the ongoing digitalisation of human resource systems, payroll management, and record-keeping to build a public service that is not only productive, but also future-ready,” he said.

Gov. Sule used the occasion to reward some dedicated and punctual civil servants: Comfort David, N1 million; Amina Idris, N500,000; and Chinasa Azubini, N500,000, respectively.

Also speaking, Abigail Waya, Nasarawa State Head of Civil Service, while commending Gov Sule’s support, said the Civil Service week was marked with a long list of activities and promised to institutionalise it.

Waya, while tasking the civil servants on dedication and punctuality, urged them to obtain the new public service rule to guide them in the discharge of their duties.
