The speaker who read Governor Sule’s letter to the lawmakers said the reappointment of NASIEC chairman was in line with the power conferred on the governor by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The letter reads in part, “With the power conferred on me by the Constitution, I, Engr. Abdullahi Sule appoints Barr. Ayuba Wandai Usman as the chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC).”

Jatau directed the Clerk of the House to communicate to the nominee to submit 30 copies of his curriculum vitae (CV)

“And he should appear for screening and possible confirmation tomorrow, September 9th, 2025,” he said.

LEADERSHIP reports that the reappointment of the NASIEC boss followed the expiration of his tenure after five years in office.

Wandai was appointed as the substantive chairman of the commission in August 2020.

The existing legislation stipulated a five-year term, subject to renewal, for a prospective chairman of the commission. By law, Wandai’s tenure wound up last month, necessitating a reappointment.
