Residents of Kuri, Lambam, Gelambam and Dasa communities in Yamaltu Deba local government of Gombe State are set to benefit from improved transportation and economic activities following the commissioning of the 27-kilometre road project by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Kuri – Dasa road, the Governor said the road project was aimed at boosting rural connectivity and enhancing agricultural productivity across the benefiting communities.

He assured residents that the road network would be extended to link Kembu, Kidda and Panda communities to the Kuri axis in order to further strengthen economic integration and support farming activities. “We promised you, and by the grace of God, we have delivered. You elected us, and we assured you of this road,” the governor stated.

Governor Yahaya also directed the immediate reconstruction and upgrading of the deteriorated stretch from Kuran Mota (Kuri Junction) to Kuri Bridge to ensure durability and improved access.

He noted that the State Executive Council had earlier approved the construction of the 19.9-kilometre Mararraban Kwaji–Jagali–Jarawa–Maikaho–Tsando–Dandela to Dasa Road, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to expanding road infrastructure.

The governor also inspected the ongoing Garin Bukar Bridge project being executed in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC), and assured residents that upon completion, connecting roads would be constructed to link Tsando and the surrounding communities.

In Kwadon, the governor also inspected the NALDA Market, where internal roads have been constructed and solar-powered streetlights installed to enhance commercial activities.

At separate events in Dadinkowa and Zambuk, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, laid the foundation stones for the Yamaltu East and Yamaltu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) secretariats.

He announced that elections for LCDA chairmen and councillors would be conducted in the coming months and encouraged youths to participate actively in grassroots governance.

The governor disclosed that indigenous contractors were deliberately engaged for the LCDA projects to promote local participation and economic inclusion.

He emphasised that security, education and healthcare remain fundamental rights of citizens, noting that the state’s growing population requires proactive infrastructure expansion to meet increasing social demands.

Traditional rulers, including the Emir of Deba and the Emir of Yamaltu, commended the governor for executing projects across their domains and pledged continued support for the administration’s development agenda.

At the palace of the emir of Deba, the emir, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Usman, commended the governor for what he described as consistent execution of people-oriented projects across the emirate and the state at large.

He noted that the newly- commissioned road and other ongoing infrastructure works would significantly improve agricultural productivity, ease movement and stimulate local commerce.

Similarly, at the palace of the emir of Yamaltu, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, expressed appreciation to the governor for fulfilling campaign promises and, in his words, exceeding expectations.

He highlighted the establishment of the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa, and the expansion of rural road networks as landmark initiatives that are reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the area.

The emir stated that the creation of LCDAs would bring governance closer to the people, improve service delivery and accelerate grassroots development.

Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of Yamaltu/Deba local government area, Hon. Abubakar Hassan Difa, commended the governor for executing developmental projects in the area.

Also speaking, the member representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Inuwa Garba attributed the peace enjoyed in the state to the leadership of Governor Yahaya.
