Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed sorrow over the demise of Prof. Alhassan Mohammed Gani, the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK).

He passed away in the early hours of yesterday in Abuja.

Until his death, Gani was an academic and member of the Department of Biological Sciences at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

In a press statement by Isma’il Uba Misilli, the director-general, Press Affairs, Gombe State, the governor paid tribute to the late scholar, recalling his tenure as the second vice chancellor of FUK, during which he played a significant role in promoting a strong and productive relationship between the institution and the state government.

The governor noted that the late Professor Gani will be remembered for his contributions to education, research and leadership in the Nigerian university system, describing his death as a profound loss to the academic community and country as a whole.

He extended his condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, his colleagues, and the management, staff and students of both FUK and ATBU.

Governor Yahaya also commiserated with the people of Kanam local government area of Plateau State, where Professor Gani hailed from and held the traditional title of Dan Masanin Kanam.
