Governor Yusuf To Inaugurate Shuurah Council

The Kano State Government will inaugurate the newly reconstituted Shuurah Council on Monday, 8th September 2025, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs

Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya of Kano State said the inauguration ceremony would occur at the Government House in Kano.

Establishing the Shuurah Council represents a significant step in strengthening participatory governance, inclusiveness, and transparency in decision-making.

“The Council is expected to serve as an advisory body to the State Government, providing informed guidance on policies and programmes that will continue to drive the transformation agenda and promote sustainable development in the state.

“Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf, widely known for his commitment to people-oriented governance, will use the occasion to highlight the objectives and mandate of the Council, as well as reaffirm his administration’s dedication to accountability, equity, and citizens’ participation in decision-making towards ensuring effective service delivery to the people of Kano State,” the statement said.

The Shuurah Council is composed of highly respected personalities who represent critical stakeholder constituencies. Its goal is to ensure balanced and adequate representation across all social strata of the Kano community.

The statement added that all Council members and guests are invited to attend the event as the Kano State Government takes another important stride in consolidating the democratic ideals of citizens’ participation in governance and strengthening institutions for enhanced service delivery.
