The federal government has handed over about 10 development projects executed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to the Bauchi State government to strengthen social infrastructure and accelerate economic recovery in the North East region.

In a statement issued by the head of Information and Public Relations, Sani Danti, the minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed, commissioned and inspected completed and ongoing projects in Bauchi State between February 4 and 6, 2026.

The projects, which cut across education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and commerce, are designed to improve living conditions and stimulate socio-economic growth in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed, Uba Maigari Ahmed said the federal government remains committed to ensuring that development interventions in the North-East directly address critical service gaps and support long-term regional stability.

He explained that the delegation included officials from the Ministry of Regional Development, members of the National Assembly, the NEDC Board, and senior management staff responsible for policy direction, funding oversight, and administrative coordination of the commission.

According to the minister, the projects form part of ongoing federal interventions aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, improving public service delivery, and expanding economic opportunities for communities affected by developmental challenges.

Responding, Governor Bala Mohammed commended the NEDC for what he described as impactful and visible interventions across Bauchi State.

He said the projects have supported the state government’s development agenda and improved access to essential services in several communities.

Other projects include the renovation of Government Secondary School Yelwan Duguri, two Primary Health Centres in Yashi and Shira, a renovated school in Maina Maji, an ultra-modern cattle market in Alkaleri local government area, and the Kalajanga-Bara-Tashan Turmi Bridges along the Bauchi-Gombe Road.

The minister also inspected ongoing construction work at Government Secondary School Bauchi, comprising two classroom blocks, an administration block, and a laboratory, as well as the Gombe Abba-Kirfi Road project.

The projects form part of NEDC’s broader mandate to drive reconstruction, rehabilitation, and development across states in the North-East region.
