Greenbull RFC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Isukwuato RFC 12–0, securing the title of South East Rugby Tournament champions.

The competition, organised by the Southeast Rugby Football Association in partnership with the Martina Martins Seed Foundation and Msportslink, featured five teams from across the region: Greenbull RFC, Isukwuato RFC, Oteji RFC, AJ-Green RFC, and Coal City RFC.

In the final, Greenbull RFC combined disciplined defence with aggressive line speed and swift ruck play, compelling Isukwuato into wide, low-percentage attacks. Their dominance was evident in two well-executed tries and a successful conversion, sealing a deserved 12–0 victory in Umuahia, Abia State’s capital.

Speaking after the event, Onyekachi Stephen Ibegbulam, the South East Zonal Representative on the board of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, commended the strong turnout and dedication of teams and supporters, acknowledging the sacrifices made by clubs to expand the sport.

He also extended appreciation to key stakeholders, including Anderson Akaliro, a distinguished member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Umuahia North State Constituency, for his support towards grassroots rugby development.

Special recognition was also given to Ugochukwu Anunobi for his unwavering encouragement, alongside partners, officials, volunteers, coaches, and medical personnel whose contributions ensured the tournament’s success.

Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding rugby in the South East, describing the competition as a vital platform for nurturing young talent and strengthening community engagement through sport.
